Ignite Church OC believes in the importance of Corporate Prayer.

What really does that mean?

Individual prayer is both important and necessary for personal spiritual development. But, coming together as a group, hence the terminology Corporate Prayer, is just as important.

Participating regularly in corporate prayer begins to take out the individualistic assumption that Christianity is only about me and my relationship with God; and it begins to re-situate us as individual Christians in the congregation so that we become aware of one another  – i.e. the person who is sick, or the couple that just had a baby, this person who is unemployed, and the people who have just become accepted Christianity.

Participating in corporate prayer helps us discover that our lives, as followers of Christ, are tied up with one another’s. It helps us discover how God cares about the congregation as an entity — that it should be marked by the fruit of the Spirit and the love of John 13:34-35.

2 Chronicles 7:14 says, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land”.
